Cliff House was built in the 1830's by a Merchant for use as his own house. During the early 1900's the house was rented and then purchased by the Horsfall family, Jock Horsfall was a famous Aston Martin Racing Driver who stored his fabulous collection of cars in what is now our new bar! During the war Jock was a driver for MI5 and was involved in 'Operation mincemeat' an operation which was turned into a film called 'The Man Who Never Was'. A war time Military move designed to fool the Enemy into thinking we were invading via the Mediterannean. Pictures of Jock and his Aston Martin called the 'Black Car' are in the wall in our office, the car is still raced in Vintage car races to this day.
During the 1950's Cliff House developed into a members country club and then gradually the Cliff House grounds became a Holiday Park. In February 2000 Cliff House was purchased by the Beeston Group who over the past ten years have reinvested heavily into the Business concentating on its core incomes Lodges, Caravans, Self Catering Camping and Touring resulting in the Park winning East Anglian Holiday Park of the year in 2006. The Investment has continued and we were proud to be open our new bar and restaurant 'The 12 Lost Churches' named after the tragic loss in the early 1150's of 12 Churches to the sea opened during Summer 2010. We have now built a new shower block at Cliff House Holiday Park and our new holiday park project The Hollies Camping and Leisure Park of Kessingland Suffolk is open and trading - the web site is www.thehollieskessingland.co.uk. We are now starting a new deveopment of 75 lodges at The Hollies!
Dunwich is located on the Suffolk Heritage Coast between the coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and Cliff House is surrounded by National Trust Land on three sides and to the Eastside beach with direct access from the Park. Adjacent to the Famous Minsmere Bird reserve our location really does suit those who enjoy Country walks, birdwatching, cycling and not forgetting a pint of the local ale made locally in Southwold - By Adnams.

All customers from those who enjoy camping, touring, renting our accommodation or holiday home owners are all important to us. Myself and my partner stopped to have lunch having just booked our wedding at The twelve lost churches. We were delighted with the meal that we had both were really tasty. The service in the bar and restaurant were outstanding. Adam the bar manager and the kitchen staff were very friendly, accommodating and child friendly. Our little 8 month old baby girl loved them.
We often stay at Cliff House in our caravan with our dog and couldn't recommend the site highly enough for touring or camping, however we had never eaten on site before until Saturday night! On arrival we were told of the Spanish buffet night at £9.95 a head served in the 12 lost churches restaurant from 6pm onwards. It smelt so good we went in for a look first as we were e pecking mainly tapas style foods which for healthy eaters as ourselves, wouldn't have satisfied our appetites! However, there was a delicious array of food on offer from seafood paella to pork and bean casserole, chorizo and cabbage, slow cooked lamb in an onion marmalade, cod, cheese and new potatoes, Spanish style hash browns, cold Spanish style salads, tapas fried fish, roasted vegetables, basically the list goes on and it was all delicious! Dessert was a fabulous choice of fresh fruit which again was top quality. So, all in all we can highly recommend not only the food at 12 lost churches, but also the touring site as a whole, with its clean and dog friendly site and direct access onto dunwich beach!
Our friends were staying at the Holiday Park so we joined them for lunch. This is a real hidden gem. Very nicely laid out restaurant and very good food. Totally unexpected as much better than we had expected when our friends suggested having lunch there. Staff very friendly and service very good. Well worth a visit.
